Where Imagination Comes Alive . . . With Daily Educational Programming!

Each day, our educators ignite imaginations with programs designed to help kids discover, learn, and ask questions. We know it is informal learning, but you can just call it fun!

Twice a year our educators take In Service days to brush themselves up on guidelines and theories, as well as updating the Museum’s calendar and programs. In January 2014, our calendar and program categories are getting a facelift! Check out a few details below, and more on our calendar. Our Weekday Programs follow this guide:

Infant/Toddler Programming

These programs are designed for our littlest visitors and encourage caregiver/child interactions.

Noon - All Ages Story Time

At noon each day we offer a story time designed to engage and entertain children of all ages. Don't worry if your little one gets the wiggles and can't sit for the full 20 minutes; you can quietly leave the program. You won't hurt our feelings!

1:00pm - Exhibit Play Programming

This time is dedicated to advanced play inside one of our exhibits. An educator will use our PA system to announce the exhibit he/she will be playing in and then roll out an activity. It could be a tea party in our Kobe, Japan exhibit, or a food pyramid challenge in Metropolitan Market.

2:00pm - School Age Programming

This program is for our older kid visitors. Ranging from art, to science projects, to theatre, to literacy, these educator-led activities often encourage teamwork, reflective thinking, and problem solving.

Science Backpacks

Made especially for our visitors aged 8 and up, you can check out a Science Backpack and practice your scientific method skills. Caregivers and kids can hypothesize, explore and experiment, analyze and reflect together!
