In partnership with Autism Speaks
Seattle, WA (March 8, 2011) – The Children’s Museum, Seattle announced today that they will be hosting a Light it Up Blue Ceremony on the morning of April 2, 2011 in partnership with Autism Speaks. The Museum will join buildings and organizations across the globe who turn their lights to blue between April 1st and 2nd to promote autism awareness.
“The Museum values children and their families. This partnership with Autism Speaks is another way we can come along side families,” said Donna Marie Bertrand, Executive Director at the Museum. “The Museum desires to be a welcoming place for children with autism and to have our staff well trained to support their families. Autism Speaks is helping us achieve that goal.”
The Museum will open its doors at 8:00am on Saturday, April 2 and hold a brief lighting ceremony at 8:15am. Families with children on the autistic spectrum are welcome into the Museum at a reduced rate of $3.00 per person starting at 8:00am. The Museum hopes to launch a series of early openings to allow children with autism and their families time in the Museum away from the crowds.
