If I enroll my child in just a half day of camp will he/she miss out on activities?

Yes, some, but our camps are set up so if a child is with us for a half day or a full day, he or she will make great memories and enjoy the experience.

Can my 3 year old attend your camps?

Sorry, not this year. A child must be 4 years old by midnight on 9/30/2016 in order to attend spring camp 2017.  A child must be 4 years old by midnight on 5/31/2017 in order to attend summer camp 2017. A child must be 4 years old by midnight on 9/30/2017 in order to attend fall/winter camp 2017 and spring camp 2018.

I have a 4 year old and a 7 year old that are coming to camp, will they be together during the day?

During summer camps, our campers are split into two rooms (4 & 5 yr olds and 6 – 10 yr olds).  We do this so that the activities can be appropriately catered to the skill level of the campers.  Your kiddos will go to the classroom that matches their age for the majority of the camp time.  They will see each other during playtime in the Museum but for the most part, they will be with kids their own age.

During fall, winter or spring Camps, we will split up into two separate classrooms only if we have over 12 kids registered.

My child will turn 6 soon, will he be in the 4 - 5 yr old class or the 6 - 10 yr old class?

For our summer Discovery Days camp program, we base a child’s age group on his/her age on May 31, 2017.  If your child is 5 years old on May 31, 2017, he or she will be in the 4 and 5 year old class all summer.

For our fall/winter/spring No School Discovery Days camp program, we base a child’s age group on his/her age on September 30, 2017. If your child is 5 years old on September 30, 2017, he or she will be in the 4 and 5 year old class for all the fall/winter/spring seasons.

What does my child need to bring to camp?

Backpack: Our campers frequently create take-home projects, we recommend a backpack for ease in carrying items to and from the curb.

Sweatshirt or jacket: If it is not raining, our educators will often take the campers outside for exploration and play. It is always a good idea to have an extra layer for campers to put on if they get chilly.

Lunch (Full day or lunch session campers): If your camper is joining us for a lunch session, remember to pack a lunch for them.

Comfortable, active clothes: At camp kids will run, create, learn, jump, craft, and play – and that can often get messy!

Do the campers spend any time outside?

Weather permitting, Camp Leads may choose to take campers outside for a picnic lunch, and then Group Play with outdoor games such as jump rope, hopscotch, tag, and many more! It is always a good idea to send your kiddo to camp with a sweater or jacket in their backpack for outside adventures. And close-toed shoes are always a good idea at Discovery Days Camp!

If the kids are outside, when is sunscreen applied?

Due to skin allergy precautions, the museum does not apply sunscreen. Please apply sunscreen at home prior to arriving.

When can I expect a call from camp?

We’ll take care of the bumps and bruises. If it needs an ice pack or a bandaid, we will comfort and care for your camper. We also fill out a “Boo-Boo Report” for you to read and sign at pick up.

Our policy to is call you if a camper experiences a head injury. If your camper exhibits a fever, throws up, or extreme discomfort, we’ll notify you.

My child has food allergies, do you accommodate for that?

For snack times, we do make accommodations for food allergies.  Please include the details about your child’s allergy on the emergency release forms.  We are not always able to make accommodations for allergies in our “Activity Foods”.  For instance on Chocolate Milk Day, is not a great day for a child with dairy allergies to attend camp.

What will my camper have for lunch?

That is up to you! You are responsible for packing a lunch for your child and sending it with him/her to camp that day.

I have a Groupon voucher or Amazon voucher from past years, can I use that this year?

Vouchers are good for the value you paid for them after they expire. You may apply that value toward a camp day this year.  Fill out our normal registration form and let your booking coordinator know about the voucher.

We have had a change of plans and my child will not be able to attend camp. Can I get a refund?

Payments are non-refundable, however, you are able to reschedule your child for a fee of $5 per change.

Are there Camp Scholarship opportunities?

Unfortunately, no. At this time, Seattle Children’s Museum is unable to offer Discovery Days Camp scholarship opportunities.

My child is attending camp with a friend, will the two of them be together?

Yes, as long as they are the same age by the age cut-off dates, your child and his/her friend will be in the same group throughout the day.

Where is drop off and pick up?

That depends on the time you are dropping off or picking up your camper. Essentially, Curbside drop off or pick up is only available in the mornings and evenings. More details are below, but please give us a call if you still have questions. We want to help make sure you are at the right spot!

  • AM session drop off is Curbside at 5th and Harrison.
  • Mid-day drop off or pick up is inside the Museum at our Greeter’s Desk.
  • PM session pick up is Curbside at 5th and Harrison.
