We are proud to open our doors early on several Saturdays throughout the year with our lights dimmed and minimal sounds. In our partnership with the University of Washington’s Autism Center, we have adjusted the Museum’s setting to be friendly to those who benefit from a quieter environment.
The Museum opens at 8:30am at a reduced rate of $3.00 for adults and children one year and over. Tickets must be pre-purchased using the link below and are not available onsite. Pre-purchasing tickets allows us to adjust our staffing requirements to meet the needs of our guests.
Upcoming Sensory Sensitive Hours:
Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 8:30 – 10:00am
(Scroll to the bottom of the page to purchase your tickets.)

Frequently Asked Questions
Can anyone attend these early opens?
Technically, yes. However, we do ask that you respect the needs that some children have for a quieter experience in the Museum. These mornings are designed for children affected by autism or other challenges that make the normal noise of the Museum challenging.
Do I have to pre-purchase tickets?
Yes, we need to know how many attendees to expect.
When do the lights and sounds return to normal?
We open to the general public at 10am. Shortly before that time, a staff member will walk through and alert families that the normal lights and sounds will resume in a few minutes.
