Where Imagination Comes Alive. . . during a check-up.

Teddy Bear Check-ups!

Does your child's teddy bear or favorite snugly toy need a check-up?  The Pacific Northwest Child Life Association will be at the Museum on June 22nd with child-safe medical supplies so your child can play doctor.

Your child can play alongside a Child Life Specialist and grow more comfortable with medical supplies.  These playful interactions can make your next doctor visit more manageable or help a child process a medical intervention they experienced or will experience.

The Teddy Bear Clinic will run from 10am - 4pm.

What is a Child Life Specialist?

Child life specialists are pediatric health care professionals who work with children and families in hospitals and other settings to help them cope with the challenges of hospitalization, illness, and disability. They provide children with age-appropriate preparation for medical procedures, pain management and coping strategies, and play and self-expression activities. They also provide information, support, and guidance to parents, siblings, and other family members

The PNWCLA was founded in 2002 to help Child Life professionals in the Puget Sound area grow in their professional skills as Child Life Specialists through many opportunities, such as community outreach.
