Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Job Status: Full-Time, Temporary

Wage: hourly, $16-18, Depending on Experience

Weekly Schedule: M-F, with some flexibility. Currently the majority of work is remote.


Position Summary

This is a full-time temporary position. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will work across all departments, and most closely with the education team to promote the Seattle Children’s Museum’s online learning content, SCM at Home. This position is part of the online learning content team, and will work collaboratively with other MarCom, education staff to develop and implement marketing strategies to effectively promote the organization, its online program and virtual camp offerings, and its role as a community asset during the Covid19 social distancing restrictions.


This position will work as part of a team to analyze current promotional efforts, strategize new marketing plans, and define and demonstrate a cohesive organizational voice. The Marketing Manager communicates the Museum’s efforts in accessibility and ensures our relevancy to all populations served while seeking out new audiences. This position oversees and works with all marketing contractors and vendors to plan and execute the Museum’s advertising and marketing efforts, media and public relations initiatives, and content creation and dissemination. The Marketing Manager reports to the Director of Development and collaborates to create strategies that successfully meet revenue, reach, and audience development goals.


Responsibilities and Duties

Marketing, Communications and Social Media 50%

 Collaboratively develop, execute and monitor branding and marketing avenues to meet the needs of SCM at Home and virtual camps,  while maintaining the overall voice of SCM.

 Promote a positive public image and manage the dissemination of information on the organization’s behalf.

 Ensure consistent use of brand identity and style in all communications.

 Strategize with team members to oversee post schedule and content.

 Support as needed the dissemination of materials such as weekly newsletters, monthly calendars, cross promotional efforts and other partner media/marketing distribution.

 Build upon communications strategies and campaigns to target wider audiences and increase museum attendance.

 Remain informed of program registration progress and trends, and adjust promotional efforts accordingly.

 Maintain accurate contact lists for target audiences. Coordinate with all departments to determine and oversee appropriate communication frequency and messaging.

 Work as part of a team to review the content, maintenance, and analytics of the organization’s website.

 Develop written content for all media platforms with the support of education.


Graphic Design and Editing 40%

 Design and implement use of graphics consistent with SCM branding to ensure high-quality visual content.

Establish a strong, distinctive visual presence for SCM at Home, e-learning, across all social media platforms.

 Maintain organized archives of developing online content.

 Support editing capabilities as necessary for online learning programs, primarily YouTube, working closely with education team regarding content quality, accuracy, and artistic intent.


Administrative 10%

 Participate in all-staff and team meetings.

 Attend webinars, Zoom sessions and other meetings as assigned to better implement strategic development of online learning content and effective delivery.

 Other duties as assigned.
